We went to the beach in Binh Lap village, Cam Lap commune, Cam Ranh city (Khanh Hoa) and witnessed waste such as plastic bags, nets, leftover food such as shells, snails and plastic containers lying on the beach. Every time the wind blows, the stench is very unpleasant, and under the sea, waves crash onto the shore, bringing with them a lot of garbage.
The cause of this situation is that some people clean lobster cages without collecting and treating them. Second, people participating in aquaculture at sea are not aware of environmental protection, and they still throw household garbage and plastic bags into the sea.
According to local people, at the beach in Binh Lap village, usually after harvesting, the cages are pulled ashore for cleaning to prepare for the new farming season, instead of collecting waste and treating it properly. However, many people throw lobster nets, and leftover food such as shells, snails and plastic containers directly onto the beach. The layer of barnacles on the cages falling directly into the sea has turned the beach into an unkempt beach.

Aquaculture farmers need to be aware of protecting the marine environment
Mr. Le Van Toa, 88 years old, a resident of Cam Lam commune, said that in the past, this sea was wild, fresh and very beautiful. But now, he regrets that the sea has become polluted, and stinking, causing loss of landscape.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, also a resident of Cam Lap commune, said that the beach here is polluted because people are not aware of protecting the marine environment. Due to pollution, for the past 2 years, many local people have not dared to swim in the sea for fear of rash.
Also according to the people of Binh Lap village and the leaders of Cam Lap Commune People's Committee, this cleaning of cages comes from many farming areas on Cam Ranh Bay.
From there, the beach area and frontage of Binh Lap village are filled with trash, disrupting public order and environmental cleanliness. Local people are trying to collect household trash and stop discharging waste into the sea, however, the pollution situation continues to exist.
Mr. Le Ngoc Thach, Chairman of Cam Ranh City People's Committee, said that the situation of household garbage landing on Cam Lap commune beach occurs periodically every year accompanied by the windy season, high tides and incoming tidal water. Garbage also changes constantly, sometimes arriving at Cam Lap commune, and sometimes arriving at Cam Binh commune. This makes the local response and cleanup preparation work in the area face many difficulties. The city directs localities to handle it there, but if the amount of trash is too large and exceeds local capacity, the city will mobilize forces and support means to handle it immediately.

Many people are not aware of protecting the marine environment
According to Mr Le Ngoc Thach, this amount of household waste arises from spontaneous aquaculture activities at sea, not only from Cam Ranh waters but also from many other places.
Through the current situation of widespread household waste at sea, he said that some people and households with means of fishing, in particular, aquaculture households at sea are not aware of environmental protection. They still throw trash into the sea carelessly without collecting and treating it according to regulations.
To raise people's awareness in Cam Ranh City in protecting the marine environment, the Chairman of Cam Ranh City People's Committee said that in recent years, Cam Ranh City Party Committee has had resolutions and seminars dedicated to propagating this content. The propaganda focuses objects are aquaculture farmers.
In addition, the Farmers' Union and Women's Union at all levels in the area have also actively promoted regular propaganda for people. However, somewhere there are still people who are not aware of the issue of marine environmental protection.
In the long term, to exploit the potential and advantages of the sea, as well as ensure the environmental landscape, Cam Ranh City leaders are working with the Research Institute for Aquaculture No.3 to develop a professional, long-term and effective project. The project will prove to be proficient, long-term and effective in arranging and rearranging all aquaculture activities to ensure compliance with legal regulations and planning. Consequently, it will help develop the marine economy, transform farming methods in the marine economy according to a new model combined with tourism by planning, at the same time, ensure the development of the tourism chain according to the city's planning for inland development projects.
