Ho Chi Minh City spends more than VND 2.6 trillion on hi-tech agriculture

The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has just approved the High-tech Agricultural Development Program for the 2016-2020 period, with a vision to 2025.

Total investment capital demand for the program is more than  2,600 billion. In which, funding from the state budget accounted for 53%, funding from farmers and businesses accounted for 47%.

Particularly in the first 4 years, the city is expected to spend up to 2,100 billion VND to build infrastructure for two hi-tech agricultural zones, the city's biotechnology center, human resource training, and technology transfer. ...

The city will send officials to train short-term and long-term courses abroad. The training program mainly takes place in countries with developed agriculture such as Israel, the Netherlands, the US, France, Japan, Korea, and Thailand. The estimated cost of human resource training is  28.5 billion.

With this program, Ho Chi Minh City expects to increase the proportion of agricultural production value applying high technology, accounting for 60-70% of the city's total agricultural production value by 2020.

In which, 50 - 60% of farmer households, 70 - 80% of enterprises involved in agricultural production apply technical measures on varieties, cultivation process, and post-harvest technology. Mechanization and automation are applied in the process of livestock raising and waste treatment.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City has a high-tech agricultural park in the city that has completed the first phase and put into operation. This is the model of the country's first hi-tech agricultural park with an area of ​​88 hectares in Pham Van Coi commune, Cu Chi district.

It is expected that Ho Chi Minh City will build three more hi-tech agricultural zones in Can Gio district, Cu Chi district and Binh Chanh district.
